Washington Area Organizations and
Sites
The
Official Website of the District of Columbia
features general information about living and working in
DC and about city services, licenses and permits, tax
services and business resources. It also provides on-line
forms for applying for many city services and several
searchable databases related to zoning and property. It

The
Washington, DC City Council site introduces
the Council members and its organization and gives
information about issues before the Council and
legislation that has been introduced and guidelines for
appearing at public hearings. It also includes an online
source for the District of Columbia official code.
Eleanor Holmes
Norton, Washington's delegate to the U.S.
House of Representatives, maintains a website that
includes news of her activities and details legislation
she has introduced in Congress.
The
House of Representatives Subcommittee on the District of
Columbia maintains a web page that includes a
hearing schedule, transcripts of testimony, links to GAO
reports related to DC, and news releases relating to the
subcommittee’s activities.
DC Vote is
an educational and advocacy organization whose mission
is to secure full voting representation in Congress for
the residents of the District of Columbia by
informing Congress and the American public
about the issue and formulating solutions with coalition
partners and elected officials.
Washington's
Neighborhoods. This "virtual
tour" of the historic neighborhoods and monuments
in our nation's capital, created by The National Park
Service's National Register of Historic Places, gives an
excellent picture of the rich diversity of the people
and architecture of the District of Columbia.
Washington’s City Museum
serves the city, its residents and visitors
as an educational institution that promotes knowledge of
the past for better understanding of the future.

National and Out-of-Town Organizations and Sites
The National
Association of Housing Cooperatives is a
nonprofit federation of housing cooperatives, mutual
housing associations, member associations,
professionals, organizations and individuals interested
in promoting the interests of cooperative housing
communities. The site provides a wealth of information
and resources for co-op boards, professionals and
individuals.
Community
Associations Institute (CAI) is a national
organization of cooperatives, condominiums and
community associations that helps give board members, managers,
and homeowners the knowledge to run their associations
effectively.
The
Cooperative Housing Coalition aims to
affect public policy, through interaction
with Congress and government agencies, for the purpose
of maintaining and enhancing the environment for
existing and new housing cooperatives. The coalition
monitors many issues and has a robust government
relations program.
The
Cooperative Housing Foundation is a
non-profit organization dedicated to the development of
better housing and related community services for low
and moderate income families in the United States and
throughout the world.
The
National Cooperative Business Association presents
information about cooperatives to help people understand
how they can use the cooperative model to improve their
lives and their communities.
The Council of New York
Cooperatives & Condominiums is a not-for-profit
membership organization for housing cooperatives and
condominiums in the New York area. It offers a broad
range of services, including monitoring legislation,
lobbying, meetings, workshops, seminars and studies of
aspects of cooperative living.
